Welcome to the Nursing and Midwifery Faculty.
This faculty aims to create a nursing and midwifery workforce that is competent, knowledgeable, skilled, and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve, thereby improving outcomes for people who access health and social care services.
The faculty will work collaboratively across education providers and health and care providers to develop staff that are agile, adaptable and capable of working across organisational boundaries. Developing career pathways that are fit for the future and create a sustainable workforce, offering opportunities for all.
Our aims are to:
- Understand the current and future NM workforce supply to deliver the workforce requirements of the BSol ICS workforce plans and align with education and training plans.
- Forward plan and co-ordinate NM education commissioning across the system, through planning and maximising education capacity.
- Maintain oversight of recruitment onto NM programmes and ensure real growth year on year where required.
- Maintain oversight of retention of learners across NM programmes, raising areas of concern.
- In collaboration with other system groups develop a system retention strategy for learners and newly qualified incorporating learning from the national RePAIR project.
- Maintain oversight of areas of risk/quality (using a risk framework and relevant levels of escalation) with action taken to mitigate these risks.
- Ensure student population numbers are maintained and there is real growth in completers on time.
