About the Fund

The Locality Partnership Fund totals £5.74 million and supports large-scale, community-led projects addressing health inequalities experienced by communities of place across Birmingham’s five localities: North, West, East, South and Central. 

The fund acts as a catalyst for partnership working between statutory and voluntary sector organisations, supporting integrated, effective and efficient care. A strong emphasis is placed on co-production with communities, ensuring local challenges, priorities and lived experience informed project design and delivery.

Stories and Case Studies

Communities Engage and Thrive works with South Asian and Afro-Caribbean communities to deliver ten culturally appropriate six-week programmes with a focus on diabetes including cardiovascular health and weight management modules.
Nishkam Civic Association provide comprehensive support to reduce maternal BMI, encourage breastfeeding, and tackle other risk factors through education and integrated support services. Parents receive enhanced support and user-friendly information from GPs, Health Visitors, and Maternity Services for optimal start-of-life care within a community setting.

Grassroots projects transform the lives of those living with diabetes

DSC01738.JPG‘Communities Engage and Thrive’ and charity ‘Saathi House’ are delivering local diabetes management support for people in West Birmingham.

The two organisations are delivering six-week ‘Manage Your Diabetes’ programmes, empowering local residents to take control of their health through a series of workshops focused on improving physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. The course is already changing lives with 52% of attendees reporting reduced blood sugar levels, 61% achieving weight loss and many now choosing healthier eating and exercise habits.  

Birmingham project helps families give their children the best start in life

DSC01583.JPGThe Start of Life Care Project, delivered by the Nishkam Civic Association, has received just over £196,000 from the Fairer Futures Fund to provide expert antenatal and postnatal classes, practical baby care support, and values-led, culturally appropriate advice for parents-to-be from some of the most deprived areas.
